Napton Locks

As we were up before the blackbirds again this morning we thought we'd set off about 7 o clock. The mist was still drifting along the canal and it was promising to be a gorgeous day. Molly was a bit more careful today after being fished out of the canal last night when she tried to chase a brown Labrador.

The towpaths are really overgrown all the way to Braunston and Greg was talking to a man on his bike who said that this was the worst he'd seen them.

Turning onto the Oxford Canal and heading towards Napton.

I got very excited at this point as I thought I'd seen a baby owl by the owl box-but it was a Jacdaw.

Napton windmill in the distance and by this time we were following about 4 other boats...We thought it was going to take a while to get through the locks.

Well we flew through them .There were 3 lock keepers on and several of the locks were in our favour. We decided to stop at 12 and chill out for a couple of hours as it was so hot. Molly found herself a lovely shady spot in the long grass.
Just past Upper Boddington we went past this lovely tepee which had a big bath tub outside which was heated by wood.

Greg tried to kidnap a couple of ducks!!

Molly has been off the lead several times today and comes back when called ...although she was eyeing up the sausages on the BBQ tonight. Its amazing how nicely she sits when theres food around.

Happy days.
