Lechlade

Friday started really cold and miserable..back to woolly jumpers!! We carried on heading towards Lechlade after meeting Pete and Jess on their boat Sark.

We decided to moor up and have a bbq and suddenly out came the sunshine.

The next day just before the first lock I saw Lady Godiva.

The weir water was flowing fast  and just before the lock, Molly decided to throw her crocodile into the river again. The lock keeper asked if we had a license for it!

Just after the lock is this beautiful toll bridge. The toll cottage was up for sale a couple of years back.

Things were going quietly when all of a sudden Pete was ambushed by several canoes. One took a wrong turn and headed towards the middle of the boat.

We moored up for lunch behind one of the locks and watched the tree creepers working their way up the fruit trees.

We passed Chimney Meadows which is a large nature reserve.

As we carried on travelling, out came the horse flies. I wondered why Pete was dancing around like a loon and then I saw him with his insect bat- which worked well until he gave himself an electric shock!
Greg almost put the boat into a tree whilst jumping around to avoid them.

We moored up on the meadow for the night.... Molly suddenly decided when we went for a walk that she wasn't coming back and sat down at arms length with the ball in her mouth. Every time I moved towards her to put on her lead she moved out of arms reach....luckily after about 20 minutes a couple went past on a bike and she went to see them....mmmm caught finally.

Over in the distance was a lovely big barn owl-unfortunately I couldn't get close enough to it to get a good picture.

Monday Morning was really hot . Molly decided she was going to sit on Greg so she'd got a better view.

I have never seen Teepee's with top hats on before....They were fantastic..You could have your wedding reception in Ye old swan  over the road and then book all your guests into the teepee's.

We went past some lovely houses...

This one used to be owned by William Morris who designed Wallpaper.

We've seen loads of finches today ...I keep trying to get a good picture of them but they disappear so quickly.

This egret was waiting patiently for his dinner.

Coming up towards Lechlade.

We found a lovely mooring spot and walked into town to stock up on supplies. I had forgotten that Molly had never walked round somewhere with lots of traffic and it took a long time to get the shopping done as she was not impressed and kept sitting down and refusing to move!
Tomorrow Im going to visit the Christmas shop!
Happy days.
