I've had so many problems since the last blog trying to get pictures on- all of a sudden it keeps saying server rejected on each picture. I've now changed the settings on the camera and hopefully will be able to get some pictures on again.
We travelled over the Pontcysyllte aquaduct on Friday and headed for the basin..as we got nearer the heavens opened and we got soaked...A lovely hot shower was definitely needed.
Saturday and it rained all day..we walked into Llangollen and enjoyed a nice steak sandwich at the local pub- we found out later that they had shut the aquaduct for the day because it was so windy. We left the basin at mid day on sunday and headed towards the Montgomery Canal where we had booked in to go down the locks on the Monday.
We reached the end of the Monty and found a quiet mooring place ready to head back the next day.
Just before Ellesmere Greg found a field where all the dredging's from the canal had been placed...off he went to investigate-and came back with 2 big bags of coal that had been lost over the years. That night we cooked!!! He lit the fire and by 8 o clock we had all the windows and the roof open. At 2 am a very noisy owl screeched as they went over the boat, frightening molly who jumped into our bed and hid under the covers....we finally shut the windows and roof at 5am!
When we set off today through Grindley Brook Locks it was lovely and sunny...until we got half way down and then it started to rain....
It got blacker and blacker in the distance....
We finally called it a day at 3 pm..and then the sun came out...Typical!
Happy Days.
