The highs and lows of the K and A......

Well another trip has come to an end, this one being longer than any of the others. Lechlade was lovely and Scully enjoyed sleeping in the meadows. I got my first picture of a woodpecker and Greg saw the B12 American stealth bomber (which I didn't get a picture of because it was raining!!)

Travelling along the Thames we saw some strange sights, although Greg liked this one...
I think the funniest bit about Lechlade was on the Sunday morning when we woke to find the cows licking the windows and chewing on the ropes!
At the start of the Kennet and Avon we both wanted to turn round and find somewhere else to go. The locks were really leaky and wouldn't fill and everyone we met felt the same. We met some lovely people on the way though and when we got to Caen Hill Flight we joined up with Chris and Helga to go through the locks with. After that the locks got a little easier although one of the locks at Bath was 19 ft deep, I made sure I stayed at the top of that one

Greg learnt a new dance on the K&A---the' bity fly dance!' The amount of times we nearly ended up in the trees or I looked round to see him jumping around the back of the boat to avoid being bitten because he was being attacked by them was unreal. They don't look to scary do they?
Newbury was lovely and I think we could have both stayed there for a couple more days, there were so many nice places to eat and some really lovely shops. The best meal of the trip had to be the pie and mash at 'The Catherine Wheel', We d definatly go there again.

Greg enjoyed his swims in the River.....and leaping over it!

And then there was Bristol- scary but brilliant!

All in all it was a fantastic trip, the countryside was amazing and most of the people we met were lovely ( with the exception of the cider swilling man from Trowbridge and the dodgy day boat hirers at Bradford -on-Avon) Home for two weeks and then off again ...this time heading up towards Macclesfield and the Peak forest canal.
Happy days
