5 Locks to go....

We reached the first of the last 5 locks -Kelston Lock. The boats were really close to the weir.

While Greg was doing the lock I was chatting to a man who was swimming at the side of the lock. He  tried telling me how great it was....I wasn't convinced, it looked freezing to me!

When we got to Hanham lock we were informed that we had to phone ahead to Netham lock to let them know we were coming.....We were told to set off straight away as we needed to be there by 5.
It took us about an hour to get to Netham where we had to go in and pay for a river license and mooring.

A wedding party with a difference.

Gromit is everywhere....

To start with there were lots of old warehouses that had been made into apartments.

Greg thought his luck was in when he saw the Bristol Brewery- but unfortunately that had been made into flats too.

The food coming from these boats smelt lovely.

After that things got very busy , there were day tripper boats whizzing all over, a barge that was full of people and a mad skipper and boats everywhere. We d been given a map showing 3 places we could moor....we settled on the second one near the cross harbour ferry as the water was really choppy and we were bobbing up and down like a cork!
This is a nightclub!

Outside the M shed which is a museum all about Bristol life.

After we'd moored up we thought we'd go and explore Bristol and followed the Harbour path . We were tucked behind the 2 working boats.
Brunels SS Great Britain.

Clifton suspension Bridge.

I love all these coloured houses all around the harbour.

Greg was impressed with this drawing on a factory wall.

Claire this could be your next weekend away-Its with canopy and stars and is only there until September. Gez would love to wake up above Bristol docks!

We sat in Queens park for a while to rest Scully's poor legs then headed back to the boat.

Talk about a rocky night...the pontoon was rocking about all over the place, the wind was blowing and to top it all it started to rain.
We've got to leave here at about 12 today to catch the tide and the sun is finally coming back out!
Happy days.
