Chester

We set off about 9.30 heading towards Chester. We went past the Cheshire cat where you can get the park and ride into Chester. We decided to carry on to see if there were any moorings in the basin.

As we went past these old buildings we noticed that they had little balcony's  that could be lowered down.

This rabbit seemed quite happy with the ducks.

The locks are really big and heavy and the paddles take some winding up and down.

These little fluffballs are gorgeous.

This  lock keepers cottage is at Tarvin Lock.

Boughton Waterworks which dates from the 1850's.

The locks are so deep..

We were doing really well and heading towards the three staircase locks when we had to pull over and let the trip boat go past.... which was when we got a long piece of rope wrapped around the propeller. It took Greg a good half an hour to cut it all out.

As we went down this small corridor we met a couple who had ignored the "towpath is closed" sign...we offered them a lift down to the lock so they didn't have to walk all the way back.

There were 2 lock keepers on duty... one boat came up at the same time as Greg was going down and they swapped in the middle.

As we came out of the lock we took a sharp right turn into the Chester Basin..

Taylors Boatyard.

We moored up and went for a walk along the River Dee, down towards the racecourse and along the side of the railway and finished off with a drink outside Telford's Warehouse. Shopping tomorrow!!!

Happy Days.
