Bugsworth Basin.

Saw these 4 donkeys Maria and thought of you.....

 

We went over an aqua duct above these cottages.

We saw several different mills, this one being the Adelphi mill which was used for cotton and then silk.

Look at this cheeky heron sitting on the back of someone's boat.

Disley over in the Peak Forest national Park.

These moorings had old tractors and a small workshop next to the bridge.

I told Greg Id seen a wild boar!!

This has got to be my favourite factory ever- The Swizzles sweet factory...I nearly didn't get a picture because my nose was in the air smelling those lovely lovehearts- its a shame they haven't got a factory shop though.

We moored up at Bugsworth Basin where you can see the remains of the Gnats Hole lime kilns.

The sunset after yesterdays rain was lovely and turned the rock outcrop a dark red in colour.

 

 

We set off in the warm sunshine( not a raindrop in sight!!) and carried on towards Bosley Locks. Everyone that we saw this morning seemed in a really good mood.

We went past this old barn which had been renovated. They were also doing up all the out buildings and had a very large cow lying by the canal.

I love those stable doors.

Not long afterwards we went over an aquaduct over the River Dane....Greg had to stand on the roof to get some pictures as it was a very steep drop.

We arrived at Bosley Locks to find a traffic jam- there are 12 locks in total and very little room between them to wait.

The locks were built with huge sandstone blocks with a narrow bridge at one end.

We were quite lucky as several boats were coming down the flight at the same time which makes it much easier as its only half the job.

And then the rain clouds started to build up behind us.....

The facilities at the top of the locks has been awarded a green flag. They have showers, water and Elsan as well as..........washing machines!!!!!

I got very excited and thought if we moored up for an hour I could get all my washing done and then put it on my new whirly thing to dry over night-how good does life get.

Unfortunately...

it was closed until further notice.... They only got their green flag this year....do you remember how we had to jump through hoops Michala to apply for a green flag in Eco Club at school? Not impressed!!

We carried on for a bit longer until we found a nice area to moor up for the night just before the heavens opened. Poor Scully was  shattered and soon fell asleep....I'm sure she'll wake up when she smells her dinner though!
